Wall panelling designed around the room
Panelling can bring proportion and character to a hallway, bedroom or living space. My Refresh can discuss traditional framed layouts, shaker-style designs and selected feature-wall panels. The right arrangement depends on the wall width, furniture and room features, not just the number of panels in a picture. Bring an inspiration photo so we can identify the look you want.
Choose the layout before buying materials
Decide whether the panelling should be full height or stop at a dado or picture-rail level. Skirting, door frames, radiators and sockets affect the layout. For a repeated framed design, balanced spacing often needs to be set out across the whole wall before the strips are cut. For sheet or slatted panels, board dimensions and joint positions need planning.
Materials and a clear scope
A supply specification can include boards or mouldings, adhesive, appropriate fixings and filler, with quantities and waste allowances suited to the design. MDF and other products must suit the location; do not assume a decorative panel is suitable for a wet area. We will distinguish fitting and preparation from painting or decorating, and record the agreed finish in the quotation.
What to send for an initial discussion
Send wall widths, ceiling height, the desired panel height and photographs showing the complete wall. Note any wallpaper, loose plaster, damp, uneven surfaces or obstacles. A survey confirms condition, setting-out and preparation. Standard panelling packages and the online panelling calculator are still being developed; individual enquiries can be discussed now without relying on an unconfirmed package price.
Your questions, answered
Can I use a photo of a style I like?
Yes. Send the reference along with your wall dimensions. We can discuss a practical layout for your room rather than assume the pictured proportions will transfer exactly.
Does the price include painting?
Only where the quotation expressly includes it. Fitting, filling, preparation and final decoration need a clear agreed scope.
Can panelling go around sockets and radiators?
Their positions must be considered during setting-out. Any electrical or plumbing alteration must be identified and agreed separately.
Planning a project?
For standard doors, start with the online estimate. For other work, gather photos, dimensions and your postcode, then use the project planner to prepare your enquiry. Availability is confirmed before booking.
